Dramm's 1000PL Water Breaker spreads water through more than 1,000 small openings to produce a soft shower with useful flow. It was developed for container and greenhouse watering, making it relevant to growers who water multiple bonsai or propagation containers by hand.

How to use it around bonsai

Attach the breaker to a compatible hose or watering handle, start with controlled flow, and direct the shower over the soil rather than blasting the trunk or exposed roots. Move pot to pot and check that the entire root zone is wetted; a gentle pattern still needs careful technique, especially on very small shohin pots, freshly repotted trees or loose top dressing. For isolated small containers, a watering can may offer finer control.

Model: Dramm 1000PL Water Breaker.

Pattern: Ultra-soft shower from more than 1,000 micro-openings.

Published flow: Dramm lists 8 GPM at 40 PSI; actual flow depends on your water supply and setup.

Construction: Lightweight impact-resistant plastic with a metal diffuser disc; made in the USA according to Dramm.

Bonsai tip: Direct the shower until water drains from each pot, then reassess based on the tree, season and soil mix.
